WE RECENTLY VISITED THE GROSVENOR HOTEL TO CONDUCT A PARANORMAL INVESTIGATION, ON THIS PAGE YOU WILL FIND INFORMATION ON WHAT THE GROSVENOR HOTEL CAN OFFER ITS PAYING VISITORS, WE WILL ALSO TELL YOU WHAT IS THOUGHT TO HAUNT THE GROSVENOR AND WHAT WE FOUND DURING OUR EVENING INVESTIGATION.

                                                                    VISITING

The Grosvenor Hotel can offer many services to its customers,

The Bar is a perfect place to visit, here you can enjoy and relax in the surroundings and choose a drink from the large selection, sky sports is shown on the screen showing many sporting events. fruit machines and a pool table are also available to play. 

The Hotel is a great location to stage a wedding reception, its large arched entrance and cobbled courtyard makes a perfect location for wedding photographs.

A Nightclub is also held here, It is open on friday and saturday nights, the evenings are very popular, well worth a visit .The nightclub closes around 1am.

Accommodation , their are 35 en-suite rooms available, all situated on the upper floors, all rooms benefit form being comfortable and well presented with tv and hot drinks in all rooms .

A very warm and charming hotel that welcomes young and old alike, this is a great place to visit as all guests will receive the personal care and attention of all its friendly staff.

                                                                 HAUNTINGS

The Grosvenor Hotel's cellar dates back about a thousand years, and it is here that a ghost of a monk seems to lurk. In Saxon times there was no strict seclusion for nuns so monks were frequent visitors and often played an active role in the work of the abbey. There are many old tunnels, which zig zag their way under the historic town and one theory is that the monk is connected to a story relating to this underground labyrinth.

There is a ghost of a lady that haunts the Grosvenor Hotel, she wears a long grey dress and is reported to haunt the upper floors. She is quite clearly in some distress and seems to be searching for something. What is upsetting her so much is unclear, but it seems she wont give up looking until its found

Some of the current staff have also had strange occurrences happen, a lot of activity has been reported in room 24 , and indeed in the hallways, it seems to centre around reports of a phantom girl with a satchel.

                                                         OUR INVESTIGATION

The investigation at the Grosvenor Hotel proved to be quite a success, all of the Dorset Paranormal  team experienced something throughout the evening that is not easy to explain. Some of the unexplained phenomenon included noises and movement.

                     We started the evening in the hallways of the hotel, as the hallways are very large we split the area into two sections.

                                                                                                HALLWAY PART 1 

The first section started at room 24 and up the long length of hallway until you reach the corner at the end, during our time spent here the emf detector kept showing a fluctuation in readings ,no reason could be found at the time for this ,a member of our team called out " if anyone other than the members of our group was present with us, could they show themselves", within a few seconds a light in the hallway turned itself off. After the incident we checked the light and the switch, no fault could be found. After checking photo equipment the next day a number of orbs were caught on one 35mm photo still, the photo was taken of the chair outside room 24.

                                                                                               HALLWAY PART 2

On the second phase of the hallway investigation, we all sat outside room number 9, the reason for this was to get a good view of the rest of the hallway in both directions, and during these investigations many of our group mentioned the feeling of sickness.

While we were all sat in this position, one of the team felt quite edgy, a presense was felt to the left of room 9 at the end of the hallway, although nothing was seen at the time, after viewing the filming of the incident the next day, there does seem to be the face of a lady  captured in the mirror, after finding the face on our footage, one of our team returned the next week to the Grosvenor to try and recreate the face but failed. At present the face in the mirror is unexplainable.

                                                                                LADIES TOILET / ADJOINING TUNNEL   

While we were in the tunnel one of our team called out once more " if there was anything with us, could they touch one of us, show themselves, or make a noise." almost immediately the sound of a babies cries could be heard. This was very unusual as we heard three short cries, it is thought that if it was a real child crying it would have lasted a lot longer .After viewing equipment, these sounds the group heard had been recorded. During our visit to the tunnel, many of our group reported the feeling of being touched on the face, hand, back, and a couple of the group also felt the feeling of being pushed in the back.

Nothing more was to be experienced in the tunnel so we moved into the ladies toilet room. We all linked hands to use our collective energy to try and communicate further with what may have been with us. Unfortunately nothing more was to happen in this area.

                                                                                                        CELLAR  

At the beginning of our investigation at the Grosvenor we set up a trigger object in the cellars. A trigger object is something that can be drawn around on a piece of paper, it is said that if a spirit is present in the room it can sometimes be drawn to the object and make it move.

We used a cross as our object, it was left in the cellar for most of the evening until we were ready to investigate the cellar much later in the evening. When we entered the cellar for the first time to investigate we noticed definate movement of the trigger object, although the movement was not great, it was enough to have noticed, photos taken of the object can confirm this.

Throughout our investigation in this area, we were all quite surprised how peaceful the cellar was, none of our group felt anything in this area, but when we viewed the footage of the cellar on a camcorder that had been left recording all evening there are noises recorded that seem very hard to explain. Although nothing was felt during our investigation in the cellar, it might have been that if anything was with us it may just not have wanted to be active at this time.

                                                                                                       OVERALL    

The lady in the mirror, orbs caught on camera, lights turning themselves on and off, the sound of baby's cries and movement of a trigger object have all occurred while investigating the Grosvenor Hotel.

Are these happenings paranormal ?

The answer is we just dont know, but it gave us a facinating insight into our paranormal investigations in Dorset.
