WE RECENTLY VISITED THE NEW INN TO CONDUCT A PARANORMAL INVESTIGATION, ON THIS PAGE YOU WILL FIND INFORMATION ON WHAT THE NEW INN CAN OFFER ITS PAYING VISITORS, WE WILL ALSO TELL YOU WHAT IS THOUGHT TO HAUNT THE NEW INN AND WHAT WE FOUND DURING OUR EVENING INVESTIGATION.

                                                      VISITING

Visiting The New Inn will bring you a very warm and welcoming experience.

As you enter the New Inn , the exposed beams and wood panelled bar are a real focal point to the eye, along with the old stone fireplace at the far end .A wide selection of beers, quality wines, classic spirits, and liquors are available.

The Restaurant offers high quality home-cooked food using locally sourced produce .It is pleasantly spacious and is non smoking.

The New Inn also offers accommodation it encompasses single, double and family rooms all comfortably furnished in keeping with the tradition of the pub. All rooms have tea/coffee making facilities, TV, radio alarm and a hairdryer. There are eight non smoking guest rooms in total, all offering en-suite facility.

Overall the New Inn is a really charming place to visit, whether you want a quick drink, something to eat or a place to sleep. The New Inn caters for all these things very well.

                                                   HAUNTINGS  

There are two children that are said to haunt the garden area, they are seen playing together under the watchful eye of an old lady possibly their grandmother. They appear at any time of year and it is the incongruous nature of young children playing outside in summer clothes in the depth of winter that tends to attract attention. It is suspected that in the summer months they may pass as real children and not be noticed.

The public bar has a huge stone fireplace, it is here that people have witnessed strange events. The fireplace has been seen to ripple, and a large black shape emerge, the shape is of a figure of a man, but it is all black like a silhouette or a cloud. Apparently, one of the monks that stayed here many years ago (the original building was used as a dormitory overspill for the abbey) got a local girl pregnant ,her two brothers found out and followed the monk back to the dormitory, and here they beat and kicked the monk to his death in front of the fire. It is rumoured that they tried to hide the monks remains up the large chimney. 

The New Inn has been used for many uses, and at one point was used as a local court. The room that now serves as a front bar was a form of waiting room for those who would be appearing in court, be it as a witness, lawyer, or the accused. One of these men still return to haunt the room .He sits quietly in a phantom chair with his back to the wall, he then suddenly looks up as if his name has been called, getting to his feet he walks through the door into the passageway and beyond that led to the court itself. Once into the passage he vanishes.

A few people have been spooked out in the guest rooms by a heavy breath felt on their necks. A dark mist or figure has also been seen, footsteps have been heard coming from one of guest rooms with no apparent reason.

GARDEN=Three members of our team experienced what looked like the children's rocking toy moving ,all three people confided in each other to confirm movement. The next day ,after checking digital camera a photo seems to show the outline of two children and a larger person stood in front of the group.

HALLWAY (first floor)=The hallway has four ceiling lights ,they all come on together when switch activated, while three members of our team were holding a vigil, one of the middle ceiling lights turned on all on its own for 3 seconds before going off again, the switch to turn them on is situated in a position that would have been impossible for anyone to activate without the group being aware. The team also heard deep breathes or sighs but nothing at this time was caught on any of our equipment.

BAR AREA=In the bar area a orb was spotted by one of our team but nothing was detected at the time on camera although a drop of 10.0c in temperature was recorded, after viewing other camera stills of the bar area ,a orb was found but was taken later on in the evening. More of the team said they had heard more breathes/sighs.

RESTAURANT=We began by linking hands ,feeling relaxed, and staying very quiet. After a while, one of our group called out and asked if there was anyone (other than us) with us in the room, and if there was, could they touch one of us, make a noise or move something, within 10 seconds a loud tap x2  could be heard coming from further round the restaurant. After checking our equipment the tapping noise was recorded on one of our camcorders. Many of the group complained of feeling cold in this area, almost like the feeling of suddenly having cold water running over you, but not over the whole body, just on their backs, chest, or hands.

BETWEEN BAR AND RESTAURANT=We all again sat round linking hands and another member of our group called out a similar question to that asked in the restaurant, again we received a response but this time just one tap could clearly be heard but coming from the fireplace area of the bar, after again calling out we heard another tap, this time coming from the restaurant area, it seemed that noises were happening all around us. During this particular vigil, one of our group mentioned a breeze felt on them, after watching footage of this incident we noticed that just before it was mentioned , something seems to go past the back of the group and in doing so covering one of the drink lights on the bar, within a second the light on bar reappears. Again after watching filming of this vigil, we have seemed to of picked up what can only be explained as three deep breathes. These breathes sound man like, the camcorder at the time was placed on a table filming our vigil and was no way near any of the group as all were sat 2 metres away in a circle.
