Royal Lion / Lyme Regis

The Royal Lion faces the old executioners place, This hotel is haunted by the spirits that were killed for their crimes. Footsteps and black mists have both been reported here.

 

ROYAL OAK / BERE REGIS

A presense known as "John" haunts this pub, pictures fall of walls and glasses topple without a reason. A previous barmaid vowed never to return to the cellar again after experiencing a dark misty figure down there.

 

Sanford orcas manor /  Sherborne

This manor house in the heart of Dorset is reputed to be the home of fourteen ghosts ,the ghost of a eighteenth century farmer has been seen many times, wandering around the house and grounds. from reports I have read he hung himself from a trap door, although the trap door has been boarded up, he still is said to roam around. Another interesting ghost is that of a sea cadet, after killing one of his friends, he was locked away in one of the rooms at the rear of the manor for the rest of his life ,apparently his screams can still be heard today. Other ghostly inhabitants include a priest, an old white lady and a footman, noises such as bumping and dragging are often heard in the corridors.

 

Scott Arms / Kingston

An elderly lady is thought to haunt this pub, not much is known on who she is.

 

 

Shaftesbury abbey / Shaftesbury

According to legend in 1539,The abbess of the abbey gave orders to bury the abbey treasure to keep it safe from Henry VIII. Just before the monk told the abbess where he had buried the treasure, the monk collapsed and died of a stroke. His ghost is seen walking  around the abbey ruins looking to tell his secret.

 

Studland Heath / Studland

Studland heath is known to have a rather an unusual ghost, that of a lone white donkey, the reason this donkey appears is because its owner was brutally murdered by robbers, the donkey managed to escape but it is said  the donkey always comes back looking for its owner every 22nd of December.

 

TRUE LOVERS KNOT / TARRANT KEYNESTON

There are reports that a friendly poltergeist haunts this pub.

 

 

The Crown Hotel / Poole

The crown hotel has many strange tales reported, one being that of two  twins ,as stories go, in the late 17th century these twins were born, but due to being deformed at birth they were kept chained up in a upstairs room, it is rumoured that when they died they were buried under the floor. the noise of children playing has been heard at times, with no explanation.

 

 

THE NEW INN / CERNE ABBAS

The New Inn dates back to the 13th century, it is said that a ghost of a monk resides near the fireplace , also a man from around the 17th century likes to walk around the bar area. The grounds also has its visitor's, that of two children and their grandmother.

 

THE OLD THATCH / FERNDOWN

This building was previously a lodge to the now demolished Uddens House, countless reports of poltergeist activity have happened here. Tidy cuttlery has been found scattered across the floor in the morning, lights switching on and off, and a ghostly figure seen carrying a tray. A previous landlord and landlady quit the running of the pub after only 8 months in charge, saying the amount of ghostly activity happening there was the main reason for leaving.
